State budget may cause County woes

In advance of the scheduled publication of the draft of the County budget next week, Mr. McCarthy advised the Board that State budgeting instabilities may cost the County up to $120,000 in revenue next fiscal year. He said that the lack of agreement between the Governor, the House of Delegates and the State Senate will likely force the use of the biennial budget developed last year which will, among other issues, force the County to fund both the State and local portions of mandated increases in salaries, and which will make impossible any supplemental funding for comprehensive services that, in the last few years, has amounted to $50,000 per year.
