On Saturday, April 21, the Twenty-Third Annual Fodderstack 10-K Incompetently Started Race will be performed in Flint Hill, followed immediately by the Fodderstack 10-K Race which will run from the site of the debacle in Flint Hill to Washington.
An incompetently managed start for the Race has become one of Rappahannock County’s most exciting Spring moments (after vacuuming up ladybugs). We have had everything from a stalled starter’s vehicle to a misfiring starter’s gun, a malfunctioning bull-horn, and a lost time-keeper to our credit, not to mention the vicious deer attack on the fender of the SherifFs Office van a few years back. Most of the County governmental, volunteer and, for the first time, out of town consultant brain trusts have combined to ensure that something truly stupid will set the tone for the race.
