The Winter Wellness Series, hosted by Rappahannock Healing Arts Center practitioners, will conclude with an experiential evening of guided imagery beginning at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock Library this Friday.
Imagery has been used for therapeutic reasons throughout the recorded history of medicine. It is said that our images guide our behavior and that these images are often created before we can speak.
Both Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung realized the value of imagery.
Jung believed imagery was “a creative process of the psyche to achieve integration of the spiritual, mental and physical.”
Carol Lucking has a Masters in Counseling and over twenty years experience in the human services field. She will begin by leading participants through a deep relaxation exercise which she says stimulates the unconscious mind to create mental images that are personal and appropriate for each person.
