Gladys Havstad

Sperryville resident

Mrs. Gladys Florence Havstad, 95, of Sperryville died Tuesday, March 27 at her residence.

She was bom June 17,1905 in Charleston, S.C. to the late George Henry Edwin Sigwald and Adele Wilhelmina Jager Sigwald.

Mrs. Havstad graduated in 1926 from the College of Charleston and was a member of the Alumni College of Charleston, S.C. She worked for Girl Scouts in New York City.

She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Charleston Chapter #4 and a former member of the Rappahannock Garden Club.

Survivors include two sons, Harald Havstad and his wife, Sally and Peter S. Havstad, all of Sperryville.

Additional survivors include five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two nephews.

In addition to her parents; she was also predeceased by her husband, Harald Havstad; two brothers and a grandson.

A private memorial service was held at the family cemetery next to her husband.

Found & Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
