Nature Camp scheduled
The 14th annual Rappahannock Nature Camp will be held Monday through Friday, July 2 to 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Campers will be enrolled on a first-come-first-served basis, so apply early! It is open to boys and girts ages nine to 13. The camp's home base will be at Singing Creek, along the Hazel River, two miles west of Route 231.
The Rappahannock Nature Camp is one of ten similar camps initiated by the Piedmont Environmental Council in northern and central Virginia. The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection is the local co-sponsor.
Lyt Wood, local arborist and one of the camp's founders, is the camp’s director. For information, call Mr. Wood at 675-1088. or pick up a brochure at Tree Works office (next door to the Extension Office on Gay Street in Washington).
Public invited to Trout meeting
The public is invited to hear either Mr. Harry Murray. Proprietor of Murray’s Fly Shop in Edinburg and author of Trout Fishing in the Shenandoah National Park or Mr. Jeff Murray, Guide and Instructor at Murray’s Fly Shop, discuss “Reading a Mountain Trout Stream,’’ at the next meeting of the Northern Shenandoah Valley Chapter, Trout Unlimited. This program will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11 at Murray’s Fly Shop on Main Street in Edinburg. The Chapter charter area includes all of Page, Shenandoah and Warren counties and the northwestern part of Rappahannock County. Call Bud Brute at 675-3183 for additional information.
