work of clearing and rebuilding this wonderful addition to RCES, and we are all grateful.
• Parent Volunteer Lorinda Bosch has recently completed the first phase of a Native Plants project near the Outdoor Classroom. With the help of volunteers she has cleared woodland areas, created rock lined walkways and planted a variety of native plants for study by RCES students in the woods behind the school. The Grand Opening of the Outdoor Classroom and the Native Plants Sanctuary was celebrated on Wednesday, May 9. Many thanks for the tremendous effort.
• The RCPS Band students have been very busy this year preparing for a variety of spring events. Friday evening, May 18, the Band will perform at the American Cancer Association’s Relay for Life at on the grounds of RCES.
• On Sunday, June 10 at 3 p.m. the band students will perform their Spring Concert in the RCHS Auditorium. The public is invited, and we especially hope that our school volunteers will attend. The band will perform on DARE/Field Day on Friday, June 1, as well. Please try to take in at least one of these exciting performances.
• Mid-Atlantic Band Camp at Ferrum College will be held July 16-20 for NinthTwelfth Graders, and “mature” rising Eighth Graders. This is the kind of experience students need if our program is to achieve excellence. Interested? Please call Band Director Mrs. Lynne Fournier, or
