The Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) writing test came early this year, and so did the good results. As Assistant Superintendent Jack Raines told the School Board at their meeting Tuesday night, all classes taking the writing test had passing grades, and preliminary results showed that the fifth grade had a 91.4 percent pass rate, the eighth grade a 91.7 percent rate, and the eleventh grade a 75 percent rate.
In other good news, Rappahannock County Public Schools had two winners at the Virginia School Boards Association Regional Art Contest. Seventh grader Luke Bedortha of Washington was presented with a Certificate of Participation.for his middle school category entry, “Jungle Scene”, and fifth grader Jordan Torrance of Amissville came away with a Third Place ribbon and a Certificate of Participation for his untitled elementary school category entry.
