Madison on Wednesday, May 2 for a Dual Meet with the Madison County Mountaineers. It was tough competition and the Panther teams saw what a real track program could produce. The bottom line is our track teams may offer some individuals opportunities to compete in track, but our program has a long way to go to be considered competitive with the rest of the Bull Run District. Neither boys or girl track teams could muster over 10 team points overall, as the Madison teams scored over 100 points - it was completely one-sided throughout the contest.
Several of our competitive individuals did not compete and this had a major impact on our point getting capability. Sophomore Zach Bridgeman and junior Phillip Thomas were hurt - Bridgeman not running at all. Freshman Ryisha Cook has been called up to the varsity softball team to fill a void in the outfield and she has been balancing her time between softball and track. She elected not to run in the meet at Madison.
Some performances at Madison that deserve recognition were the throwing efforts of senior BJ Christian in the field events. His 40’5” throw of the shot and 117’4” toss of the discus were good enough for first place at the meet.
