• Many thanks to the RCPS School Board for the tremendous effort expended during the recent budget adoption. It is impossible to please everyone, and often it must seem that they are pleasing no one. Frequently important programs have to be reduced or sometimes eliminated, because there just isn’t enough money to go around. We are fortunate to have folks that will serve in these positions in an effort to make the best possible decisions for our county’s students and staff. Take time to say thank you the next time you see your Board representative.
• Apologies to Berkley Hobson, winner of the Eva Smith Award in the Fodderstack Run. Berkley is a RCHS graduate, not RCHS student as stated in last week’s paper. We are equally proud of her nonetheless!
• RCES Fifth Grade Student Owen Monroe ran his heart out in the Fodderstack Run and placed third in the 13 and under category surpassing his personal goal. Congratulations, and apologies for omitting his name last week.
• The days are getting hotter and it is more important than ever that your children dress in cool, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing, and that they drink lots of water. Clear water bottles at school are permissible. The more time your child spends playing outside in the heat, the easier it will be for him or her to adapt to the increasingly hotter temperatures. Have a safe and fun spring.
