Crows begin their daily communications with each other from the first hint of dawn until dark.
The screaming, scolding and assembly calls that are heard as a mob of crows pursue a predator serve to alert other crows. Upon hearing the call all crows are alerted to the presence of their most feared predators, which are owls and hawks.
