Dr. Gangel also reported on tentative end-of-year purchases that will include, if funds are available: final payments for the high school addition, noise suppression insulation in the building trades classroom, ten new computers, ten air conditioners for the high school, and cafeteria start-up funds for the next school year. School Board member Frank Warner asked that one of the air conditioners be installed in the high school cafeteria, and received assurances that to that effect. The end-of-year payout meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on June 28.
According to Dr. Gangel, the elementary school will be available this summer for staff and summer school until July 20, when the new water tank will be installed. He also noted that the lagoon drawdown has been started and will be completed When school closes, after which pump and haul operations will commence so that the lagoon can be inspected and repair options determined.
RCES summer school for grades two through five and for the rising kindergarten Jump Start program will run from June 25 through July 20, and attempts will be made to secure door-to-door school bus service for those children attending.
Dr. Gangel announced that summer technology assistance will again be sought this year for computer and network installations and repairs, and that $5,000 should be available for students participating.
He also announced an end of year celebration, scheduled for June 18 at 8:30 a.m. at RCHS, for all RCPS staff.
