No other predator causes greater alarm and concern among crows than the owl, and for good reason. Owls take advantage of the crow’s habit of spending the night in large, communal roosts. Moving silently under the cover of darkness, the homed owl moves from perch to perch, easily catching the crows. With such easy pickings, the satisfied owl will depart, leaving the rest of the crows in a somewhat terrified state.

However, I have seen crows discover an owl unprotected during daylight hours and it seems like every crow for miles will assemble in an attempt to kill, or at least drive off the owl.. With hundreds of screaming crows hounding the owl it will try to make a fast escape and find a place to hide.

Normally, crows in the wild qpn live to be 7-10 years old. Predators and disease often shorten this by a few years. Crows can be seen feasting at fast food restaurant parking lots, landfills or taking food meant for our outside pets.

They will eat bugs, worms, road kill, mice, berries, com, and a variety of other things. An adult crow needs 11 ounces of fopd each day and will usually eat about anything that does not eat them first.

They also eat the eggs and even nestlings of other birds. Who hasn’t seen one or two birds chasing a crow? They are usually attacking the crow after it raided their nest.
