Plans for 4th underway
The Fourth of July Planning Committee for RAAC is busy planning activities to be held on Wednesday, July 4 in the town of Washington.
There will be a parade, hopefully bigger and better than last year’s. All types of marchers, bands, floats, tractors, antique vehicles, animals of all types, etc. are more than welcome to participate. The parade time and line-up arrangements will be announced closer to the Fourth. Call Ellen at 675-1349 or e-mail her at solutns@shentel.net and leave a message of interest or go to www.raac.org and sign up to be part of the parade.
As part of the parade the children are once again asked to decorate their bikes, wagons, scooters, skates, etc. and participate in the parade. Pre-registration is not required. All interested parties should call Ellen at the number above or e-mail Ellen at solutns@shentel.net.
4th of July at Great Meadow
A roaring 4th of July event has been planned for Wednesday, July 4 at Great Meadow. Gates will open at 4 p.m. Featured activities will include fireworks choreographed to music, airshows, parachute skydiving, hot air balloon rides, live music, petting zoo, Goodyear Blimp, hayrides and a special U.S. Armed Forces mock tank battle. Admission is $25 per car in advance and $40 per car at the gate. Proceeds from this event go toward making possible free year-round use of Great Meadow by non-profit community groups. Page Demolition Derby set
Applications are now being accepted for the demolition derby to be held Friday, Aug. 24 during the Page Valley Fair. Cars may include any American made stock, hardtop automobile or station wagon. Official entry blanks are available by calling 743-4949.
Tasting room now open
. Sharp Rock Vineyard’s Tasting Room has reopened for the season. Hours are Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and also by appointment, 987-9700.
Bluegrass festival planned
The United Way of Front Royal-Warren County win sponsor the First Annual Front Royal Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, June 30 from 10 a m. to 6 p.m. at the Warren County Fairgrounds, featuring Lonesome Highway, the Page County Ramblers, the Shenandoah River Boys and Daybreak.
