Also new this year will be a flower and herb mart sponsored by the new non-profit, Rappahannock Bazaar. The Rappahannock Bazaar uses all of its proceeds to create and maintain recreational and other space for the County’s children and teenagers.
There will also be a demonstration tent, this year featuring a broad range of skills that visitors can watch and learn, and an interactive creation of pottery and found items called “Creating the World” that will grow through the day with the artistic contributions of celebration attendees. Demonstrations not to be missed include painting, basket weaving, pottery making, tile making, lavender arts, sculpting, and paper making.
Entertainment as always will be drawn from local and. nearby artists. Rappahannock’s Bobby Glasker will be the afternoon feature, Slim Harrison and his jug band will again be there, and the bluegrass trio of Auldridge, Bennett & Gaudreau will headline the evening’s musical fare.
A parade? Of course! Fireworks? You bet! Parking? Free to County residents with a valid County sticker (and thanks again to the Board of Supervisors for that).
