“I’m surprised and honored,” said Lea. “The program runs from July 8-13 this year and offers a chance to learn not only journalism skills but staff leadership and management.”

Lea is currently editor of the Rappahannock County High School newspaper, TheRapport.

To qualify for the workshop, she was required to submit samples of her work and an essay, and recommendations from the journalism staff at Rappahannock High and from the editor at the Rappahannock News.

At completion of the internship, Lea will be eligible for a five day externship at her home town newspaper.
