Many thanks are given to the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors for approving public bus service in the county which hopefully will begin March 17.
We wanted to give an update on where we stand, including bus schedules, routes and location of bus stops.
The bus will be called the Rappahannock Express and it will provide service five days a week, eight hours per day.
Work is underway on how best to service the community, and the “Transportation Committee” is asking for input from county residents.
This bus can be used by anyone — whether a person is one of the 963 retirees who lives in Rappahannock and wishes to combine a leisurely ride through the county with a trip to town for essentials; whether someone needs to drop a car off in one of the local towns and needs a ride back; whether a person needs to have weekly trips for physical therapy; whether someone lives alone and wants their independence, or whether someone has friends in the general area who would like to visit.
The schedule is for us to devise. A circuit ride through the county and on to Culpeper, Warrenton or Front Royal could happen four times a day, allowing riders to take the first or second bus and use one of the other trips to return.
