The Theatre at Washington, Virginia presents the Smithsonian Chamber Players in a program of infrequently heard English music from the late 16th and 17th centuries on Saturday, March 1 at 8 p.m.
The music, which is from the reign of Elizabeth I to the time of Charles II, will be a highlight of the final performance of the Smithsonian’s eleventh season here.
At the center of this beautiful but unusual repertoire is the consort of viols, a group of instruments which flourished in England during the period.
