Congressman Eric Cantor (RVa.i announced last week that the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office will receive $125,000 for a school Resource Officer Program.
Congressman Cantor, working with Congressman Frank Wolf (RVa.), was able to secure funding for the project through a request from Rappahannock County Sheriff Larry Sherertz, according to the congressmen’s office.
The sheriff, who began back in 2001 seeking this grant, said it is the first federal grant obtained for a law enforcement officer in Rappahannock County.
Capt. Jeff Brown, who currently is the school resource officer, will continue in that position, said Sheriff Sherertz.
Having Capt. Brown stationed at the schools had drawn from his “street strength,” he said.
This grant thus allows funding for the school officer, which in turn gives the sheriff the opportunity
