4-H Talent Show March 23
The 4-H Share the Fun Talent show will be held Sunday, March 23 at 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock County High School. Tryouts are March 11 at 3:30 p.m.. Persons interested in performing may pick up information at the high school, elementary school or the extension office. Contact is Evelyn Oyster at 937-2128.
Old Rag Blues Band at pub
The Old Rag Blues Band will perform at the Mountainside Pub on Feb.22 at 8:30 p.m. The band's repertoire consists mainly of Texas Blues. The Pub is located next to the Mountainside Market. 11771 Lee Highway in Sperryville. Cal! 987-9100. A cover charge of $2 is requested.
Parenting workshop begins
A parenting workshop on effective discipline for children between two and 12 years of age will be held at the Rappahannock County Library on Saturday. Feb 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The class, which is sponsored by the county’s Department of Social Services, teaches parents a system of discipline that allows for them to count and deliver time-outs in a way that is straightforward and unemotional. Space is limited and registration is required in advance. Call Beverly Frazier at 675-3313.
Hospice trains volunteers
The spring training class for new Hospice of the Rapidan volunteers begins the week of March 17. Hospice, which provides care and support for terminally ill patients and their families, is looking for volunteers from Rappahannock County. It will accommodate volunteers' schedules as much as possible. Call coordinator Ruth Padgett 825-4840.
Regional group meets
The next meeting of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission will be on Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the commission offices, 420 Southridge Parkway. Suite 106 in Culpeper.
My Fair Lady ’ auditions
Fauquier Community Theatre will hold auditions for its production of "My Fair Lady" on Saturday, March 1 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday. Chris Johns’ show Feb. 21
Headwaters has rescheduled photographer Chris Johns' lecture and slide show on Southern Africa to Friday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock County High School audjtorium. If the schools are closed that day due to inclerrtent weather, the lecture will be postponed until Feb. 28.
Lion’s Club Music Contest
The public is invited to the Rappahannock County Lion’s Bland Music Contest on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. at The Theatre on Gay Street in Washington. Students of music — vocal and instrumental at elementary and high school level will participate in the contest.
