Ki Theatre begins its 15th season on Saturday, Sept. 20 with its popular “Poetry Coffee House” at 8 p.m.
This special evening offers the Rappahannock community an opportunity to rediscover and enjoy old poems that delight and move the soul, as well as listen to new poetry that reflects modem day concerns and thoughts.
As 19th century writer Charles Eliot Norton once said, “Whatever your occupation may be and however crowded your hours with affairs, do not fail to secure at least a few minutes every day for refreshment of your inner life with a bit of poetry.”
Ki’s Poetry Coffee House will provide such an opportunity in a cafe setting with tables of four and light refreshments.
Featured poetry lovers will recite and read poems of their own choosing. There also will be an “Open Mike” for members of the audience to come to the stage and read or recite poems they want to share with the group. The theatre especially invites students to participate in this part of the program as well. In past years, this has always brought wonderful surprises.
