In other discussion, lighting on the property was addressed. Spencer sought permission to put in four lights which Kreyling said would be between 36 and 50 watts each. Additional lighting will also be needed for a proposed Automatic Teller Machine behind the existing building.
Town residents were concerned about the amount of lighting this would require.
Board member Donna Kevis responded that it was important to remember safety issues as well as aesthetic ones in matters such as this.
“You have to balance the illumination or your desire for a lack there of with the safety issue of people being able to traverse without tripping. There is a fine line that you have to walk. If you want low lighting you still have to take into consideration the safety factor. You can't have total darkness,” she said.
