Two former Virginia governors from opposing parties weighed in on the state tax debate this week, calling on legislators and Gov. Mark Warner to hold a statewide referendum on any plan to raise taxes.
A $3.5 billion gap between tax plans offered by Virginia’s Senate and House of Delegates prompted a robust debate between the two chambers that has since sputtered.
The two houses exchanged bud et bills late last month, but have aot made headway and have i ffectively killed the bills bv letting them sit in committees.
“All of the revenue bills that go to the budget are dead,” said Sen. John Chichester (R-28th). “There's really not anything to discuss.”
