Both referendums were rejected.
Longtime Allen friend Sen. Russ Potts i R-27th) said a referendum was held last fall.
“I think it’s a cowardly wav,” Potts said of a referendum. “The people sent us down here to fish or cut bait and I’m doing it.”
He said California's budget problems were the result of the same kind of bickering political posturing.
“I find it odd that he iAllen) would talk about fiscal responsibility when they approved all those deficits," Potts said, adding that Wilder did not hold a referendum when he proposed raising taxes on hospitals while he was governor.
