At Saturday's Rappahannock Hunt Point-to-Point, W'hite steered a game Inca Colony to his second straight series victory, winning easily the foxhunters’ division race to take the series lead.
"It wasn't quite like last week” at the Casanova races, White said, where Inca Colony raced on the pace and simply held his front-running position to the wire.
Inca Colony was off slowest of the four starters. White following the field over the first of 15 fences at the Bleu Rock Inn course. Southern Light bulled his way to the lead, with Scarlet Ways and Neruda close in contention on the inside.
“I was sort of worried that Donnie maybe thought I was too far back,” said White wistfully, noting that her fourthplace position felt “out of touch” with the hurrying frontrunner.
“No way,” Yovanovich said later. “No way I was worried about it. I just love to watch my riders follow. Let the other horses do the work, setting the pace, making the lead. There’s plenty of time to make your move.”
