Against most adult advice, the Patrol Leaders Council of Boy Scout Troop 36 decided to host the Shenrapawa District Winter Camporee.
The Shenrapawa District consists of the 15 Boy Scout troops and 16 Cub Scout packs from Shenandoah, Rappahannock, Page and Warren counties.
Despite the spate of inclement weather this season, Rappahannock County was blessed with clear, if not sunny, skies when Friday, Feb. 20 arrived.
The PLC, made up of the troop Patrol Leaders, the Senior Patrol Leader and his assistant, and the Troop Scribe, had also decided on a Merit Badge Midway theme for the Camporee.
Boy Scouts from the District could select from among 12 merit badges to pursue during the day Saturday. The list included art, backpacking, camping, citizenship in the nation; dog care, fly fishing, geology, hiking, metalworking and scholarship merit badges.
