Special to the Rappahannock News ^School is almost over and so is the baseball season for the Rappahannock Athletic Association.
This year the RAA had over 250 children participate in the baseball program, children of all ages from T-ball to Babe Ruth.
Several visitors came to the complex this year: members of the Board of Supervisors, the Culpeper Color Guard performing a flag ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. John Early and State Commissioner Don Rose Sr.
There were three All-Star teams this year: ages eight and under coached by Chuck Putnam, 10 and under by Jon Peavley and 12 and under by Hodge Miller.
The 12 and under District V tournament will be held at Stuart Field on the Fourth of July weekend. There will be nine teams participating in the tournament this year. The games will start on July 2 and will go on all weekend.
All the children have had a wonderful season. June 19 will be closing ceremonies. The trophies in each league will be given out, a league-wide picnic will be held and a coaches’ softball game will top off the days activities.
RAA would like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers this year for their commitment to the children of our area. With their continued support many items at Stuart Field have been replaced and great equipment has been given to the children to learn the game of baseball.
