Of course, it couldn’t have been done without the help of all the students and teachers as well.
Conner Miller, a seventh grade student, said “if the people are going to g6t hookworm, I think it would be a good idea to give them the old shoes that we don’t need anymore.”
Fellow seventh grader Davey Torrance said he believed it was a very good thing that they did for the children in need. The two boys work together on the school newspaper.
“I am very pleased with the response from the students and their parents,” said Hathaway, “and I am glad that the kids feel really good about helping others. It is an important part of our civic responsibility.”
More than 100 pairs of shoes already have been donated and more are expected. The drive ends today, at which time the shoes will be mailed directly to Josh Waddell who will deliver them to the children and adults.
