Special to the Rappahannock News
The Cutpeper-Madison chapter of the Red Cross, which covers Rappahannock, is in urgent need of volunteers.
The local chapter is involved with blood donations, armed forces emergency services, and disaster services. The group also requires administrative support and Red Cross instructors to successfully do its job.
The Red Cross runs dozens of blood drives every year at local churches and other organizations. The local chapter supplies all of the blood needs at Culpeper Hospital.
Mid-Atlantic Regional Blood Services provides the bloodmobiles but volunteers are needed to help with the administrative work and canteen at the drives.
No medical or any other experience is needed.
The group currently has one volunteer who carries a cell phone daily from 1 p.m. to 9 a.m., and 24 hours a day on weekends and . holidays, to support armed forces personnel in the United States and overseas with family health and welfare communications. Often the service member's ability to obtain emergency leave for family emergencies is dependent upon Red Cross verification.
