Meek is a retired journalist from the U.S. government’s international radio station, the Voice of America. His 20year career included four years in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he climbed tropical peaks when not broadcasting as a South America correspondent.
He and his wife live in Arlington, Va., near most of their 11 grandchildren.
