The annual event marks the official acceptance of the class of2008 into the ranks of the Academy’s Regiment of Midshipmen.
A graduate of Rappahannock County High School, Midshipman Thornhill, with 288 other plebes, was administered the Academy oath by Vice Admiral Joseph D. Stewart, the institution’s superintendent. Members of the class of 2008 were also sworn into the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Midshipman Thornhill was nominated to attend the Academy by Congressman Eric Cantor and Senator John Warner.
In addition to her classwork, Midshipman Thornhill also plays volleyball for the college team.
