C. Hunton Tiffany was given the most upto-date figures for the Fauquier Hospital’s 2004 Advancing Excellence Capital Campaign.
Mr. Tiffany made his remarks at the hospital’s “Society of 1954” donor reception and 50th anniversary celebration, held Saturday night at Moriah Farm near Warrenton, and the news was good. Very good.
Although it was originally forecast that $3.5 million could be raised from the community as a whole, donations had reached an astounding $7,750,000, which have been raised during the “quiet phase” of the campaign through generous gifts from benefactors, hospital board members, doctors and staff.
The campaign is now just $750,000 short of the final goal of $8.5 million. According to Christy Connolly, president of the Fauquier Hospital Foundation, it is hoped that the community at large will provide this last “missing piece” of the donation puzzle by the end of 2004.
We urge our readers to help the hospital reach this goal as it has provided care and services to many of us in Rappahannock.
With renovations to the lobby area and medical wing nearly finished, the next projects will be the renovation and expansion of the emergency department and cardiopulmonary services, and the construction of the Family Birthing Center and the Cancer Center. The balance of the $20 million needed to complete these projects will come from cash reserves and financing.
We are indeed fortunate to have a community medical facility like Fauquier Hospital, which is continually working to “ensure advanced care ... close at hand.”
With the community’s support, this tradition will continue.
