Along with Maxwell, two other local authors will sign their books relating to the Civil War. James D. Russell, author of “Beyond the Rim: From Slavery to Redemption in Rappahannock County, Virginia,” will be on hand to sign his book about his greatgrandmother, Caroline Terry, who was a slave in this county and witnessed the Civil War. James P. Gannon, author of “Irish Rebels, Confederate Tigers,” will sign his book on the Louisiana regiment composed mostly of Irish immigrants who fought under Gen. Robert E. Lee here in Virginia.
Gray Ghost Winery of Amissville will provide wines to go along with light refreshments, and the songs of the Civil War will be provided by Evergreen Shade. This is a musical duo comprised of John Tole of Woodville and Ann Howard of Jeffersonton, who have performed at many historical events and re-enactments, using the music and the instruments of the 1860s, including guitar and banjo.
