The program will also include choral settings of familiar folk tunes from the British Isles, jazz arrange-; ments of pop tunes, modern madrigals based on texts from! Shakespeare, and Renaissance motets.
Bel Canto’s director, Martha Mikula, holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in music performance. She conducted chamber; ensembles and music theater, as well as church and community choirs, in Minneapolis and Fort Worth before coming to Madison County. Currently, she also directs the Madison Choral Society and serves as the organ-, ist/choir director of Piedmont Episcopal Church.
Mikula and pianist Arlene Small, who is flying up from Dallas especially for this performance, will provide the “four hands” accompaniment for the Brahms waltzes.
