There are certain prerequisites for becoming a Red Cross instructor.
First, the volunteer must be currently certified in all levels of Red Cross CPR and first aid. Those who have American Heart Association certification may obtain Red Cross certification by taking the written test and demonstrating skills.
Second, a participant must take the fundamentals of instructor training class.
The local chapter office on Main Street in Culpeper is open five days a week, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Currently the group has just one part-time executive director. All other staff members are volunteers.
The office is extremely busy and in dire need of administrative volunteers who can help out a few hours a day, once a week.
Typing and computer skills appreciated but not required.
