Rappahannock County has announced a new Farmland Preservation Program, introducing another method by which land in the county may be protected from development.
Like the conservation easement, this program is one more option in the effort to preserve Rappahannock’s natural beauty and agricultural character, but it’s not a complete solution.
“It’s one more tool, not a panacea,” Rappahannock County Administrator John McCarthy said in a recent interview. “This program may be useful for someone without a lot of money who still wants to help preserve land.”
