Upon successful completion of the course, participants obtain a license that allows them to hunt “small game,” Miller explained. Additional licenses are necessary in order to hunt different types of game, such as deer or turkey.
Hunters must carry their licenses at all times, Miller stressed.
“If you forget your license (at home), go back and get it,” he said. “The one time you don’t will be the time you get that buck with the rocking chair (antlers).”
Do’s and don’ts
Hunting on private property is OK as long as the hunters have the landowner’s permission, Miller said. Hunters must also have the landowner’s permission to retrieve game from private property.
