At the conclusion of the supervisors’ meeting, Garrett Moore of VDOT told Thomas that he will come by on a weekend to check out the need for a stop sign.
When Thomas told him that people have said they would be willing to chip in to pay for the stop sign, Moore told her that wouldn’t be necessary since a stop sign would only cost about $250.
Folks on Main Street agree it would be absolutely shameful for someone to get seriously injured or killed at this intersection when the situation could be prevented for only $250.
Thomas’ closing remarks sum up the situation perfectly when she said, “With the investment many have made in property, improvements, and new businesses on Main Street, with the lovely new Sperryville brochure, and the overall sense of Spenyville revival, the threeway stop sign at the intersection of 522 and Main Street is long overdue. God created the world in six days, Israel won a war in six days, can we possibly get a stop sign in that same span of time?”
