In addition to teaching students about hunting regulations, instructors stressed safety throughout the first day. Specifically, students learned about different types of firearms and ammunition, basic shooting techniques and how to clean and care for the guns.
The students also learned that exercising common courtesy is just as important as abiding by regulations. For instance, bad habits such as littering aren’t just illegal, they cast aspersions on all nunters, instructor Jennifer Miller said.
‘Tour appearance and what you do affect how (we are all) viewed,” she said.
