Mosby dinner banquet

The Col. John S. Mosby Camp #1237 will hold its annual dinner banquet on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Dean’s Steakhouse in Front Royal. Social hour is 6 p.m.; dinner at 7 p.m. Cost is $25 per person for SCV or UDC members and spouses and $30 for non-members. James Burgess will speak on The Battle of First Manassas. Annual dinner

The Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company will hold its annual l-fam and Turkey Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Fire Hall in Amissville. Open house

Blue Ridge Yarns at Misty Mountain Farm in Amissville will sponsor an Open House Saturday, Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be spinning and weaving demonstrations and visits with sheep, goats and llamas. The farm is two miles south of Hackley’s Store on Viewtown Rd. Call 937-4707.

CCLC auction

CCLC’s ninth annual Fall Auction and Party will be held Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. to a sumptuous gourmet feast prepared by the RCHS Culinary Arts class. A $20 entry fee entitles guests to food, libations, and fun. Tae Kwon Do class

Students at all levels and of all ages will perform in a Tae Kwon Do demonstration at Highland School, 597 Broadview Avenue in Warrenton on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $7 and the price at the door is $10. Civil War roundtable

The Blue Ridge Civil War Roundtable will meet Tuesday, Nov. 16 at the Rappahannock library. Doors open at 7 p.m.; program starts at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker is Kevin Levin who will offer an analysis of Confederate military executions. Levin teaches U.S. History and the Civil War at St. Anne’s Belfield School in Charlottesville, and is working on his Masters degree in 19th Century U.S. history at the University of Richmond. Save time in the kitchen this Thanksgiving with 10” pies with handmade butter crust and filling made by the Rappahannock County High School culinary arts class. Pies and cheesecakes must be ordered and paid fo» by Wednesday, Nov. 17 and picked up at RCHS Room 1 on Tuesday, Nov. 23 between noon and 4 p.m. and on Wednesday, Nov. 24 before 3:30 p.m. Costs are: pumpkin pie, $10; pecan pie, $12; double crust apple pie $12; pumpkin cheesecake with graham cracker pecan crust (serves 16), $20.
