time,” said Paul.

Starting off slow, business picked up over time and now Paul describes the store aa “self-sufficient.” Baldwin said, the combination of location, the later hours, hot food, and the! fact that the store is quick to, get in and out of due to the way the parking lot is constructed! attracts customers. “Nowadays, everyone is in a hurry and since the store is a quick-in and a quick-out we decided to call it Quicke Mart,” added Paul.

With 50 percent of the stores’ clientele comprising' people from the community, and about 50 percent tourists or passersby, the store has also become another local landmark; and definitely attracts its own regulars.

As they look to the future! the Baldwin’s are not sure what is in store.

“People have been asking, me to put in a car wash,” said, Paul, “while there is definitely the potential to grow, you have! to look at the growth of the county and see if it warrants a car wash.”

They also added that they, could not have made it through all these years without the help of local law enforcement.,,

“The local deputies are always driving by and keeping an eye on things for us and we really appreciate that,” Paul said.

The Baldwins both feel that they owe a lot to the community at large and they are very grateful to their local customers.

“Without them the stores would be nothing and we hope they continue to support us,” said Cookie Baldwin.
