Public comment for the evening came from Ron Makela of Jackson District. Although the board had already voted to accept Chappell’s recommendation, Makela spoke to the board on the importance of upgrading the track. “The kids deserve it,” said Makela who also added that the current track is no longer being maintained and deteriorating rapidly. Makela also suggested that the board explore further cost saving measures for constructing the new roof and suggested that if a classroom addition could not be built, upgrading the current portable classrooms the school utilizes could
