April 15,1965 Entrance fees as set forth in the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965 have been placed in effect in Shenandoah National Park, Superintendent R. Taylor Hoskins announced this week. Exempt from the fees are all persons under 16 years of age, according to Hoskins. Others will have a choice of purchasing an annual Recreation Conservation Sticker at $7 per car or paying a daily fee of 50 cents per person. Dolly, a half-bred pony owned by B. R. Cox of Washington, Va., foaled a colt last Wednesday, and it was immediately claimed by ' ox’s granddaughter DruciUa Davis. Emory Russell gave the Rev. Charles Glaenzer, of Washington, the keys to his new Dodge motor home which Mr. Glaenzer purchased through Russell Brothers, Flint Hill. The house on wheels is equipped with all the conveniences’of modem day living, including air conditioning, TV, and has sleeping space for six. The Glaenzers then took an overnight shakedown trip in their new moblie motor home Tuesday. They spent the night at Bog Meadows camp ground on Skyline Drive.

Late Monday afternoon, a tornado touched down in the CastletonWoodville area of Rappahannock. The tornado’s funnel hit Harry Clarkson’s White Gate Farm near Castleton, skimming off the roof of the bam, strewing parts around the field which were also found entwined in an old pear tree. Poles were dislodged and a small building moved off its foundation. The tomando also reportedly toppled a utility pole and power lines onto a passing truck but no one was injured. Plans to open the Rappahannock ski area in Harris Hollow as a private club have been abandoned. According to Eric E. Adamson, general partner in Rapp-Skj Limited Partnership, interest from skiers has just not been sufficient to justify the improvements to the ski area. Under the club plan, the ski area would have been open on weekends and holidays to members and guests only and to the general public on weekdays. Adamson reported that the ski area is once again up for sale.
