If you want to treat yourself to something really special, there is a new spa in Culpeper.
Longtime Rappahannock resident Terri Freeborn has partnered with Janev Yucel of Warrenton to open up Spa Zen, a full service Day Spa on Davis Street in Culpeper. • Freeborn, who has been involved with massage and herbal treatments for sixteen years, started in Sperryville. There she studied with several of Rappahannock's rich complement of massage therapists, herbal medicine scholars, and practitioners of alternative medicine.
"I incorporate the various healing methods into my massage work; acupressure, deep tissue massage. We have a signature hot stone treatment with stones hand selected from the Shenandoah River. It's a Swedish massage with the assistance of hot stones. The stones are heated in a special pot. They have a wonderful deep warmth to get down into the back,” said Freeborn.
