The Bluemont Concert Series is proud to present Kevin Burke & Ged Foley on Saturday, July 30th at 7:30 p.m. for the seventh of ten Saturday evening performances. Bluemont concerts this season are relocated this season to the Old Shadow I Lawn at 70 Culpeper Street between Franklin and Lee streets, one block south of old Warren Green in downtown Warrenton. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for kids 12 and under; proceeds go to support Bluemont’s year round Artist-In-Education Program in area schools. Burke and Foley will also’ participate in Bluemont’s Healthcare Outreach Program by perform1 ing for the residents of Warrenton Overlook.
Kevin Burke is a famed i and phenomenal fiddler and a founder of the renowned Patrick Street, as well as the legendary Bothy Band, one of the most influential Irish groups of the 1970s. Bom in London to parents from Sligo, Ireland, Burke grew up playing fiddle in the traditional style, though he notes that his music is a composite; “The old Sligo players provided the building blocks but I’ve borrowed bits and pieces from all sorts of musicians along the way.” Burke first came to America as a result of a chance meeting with Arlo Guthrie, which brought him to the US to play on Arlo’s album, Last
