bear turned and came up the driveway toward the cabin.
Within the past few years, we have added electricity to the cabin, and there is a utility pole just on the other side of the driveway, no more than 30 feet from the river end of the cabin. The bear walked straight to the, pole, raised up on his hind legs and began to claw and rake at the pole with his front claws.
It made a loud, cracking sound as he pulled huge splinters from the wooden pole. We were standing there, at the railing, not 30 feet away, watching this fellow rip the heck out of the utility pole.
Then, he got back on all fours and backed up against the pole and rubbed his hind end against it, quite vigorously. Next, he started back down the driveway, stopped, turned around, went back to the pole, and scratched and rubbed it some more.
