a tropical theme. not accidental. All ol the rooms in the Inn, including the guest rooms, were designed by Briton Joyce Evans, formerly a set designer for the Royal Opera Company. Evans is behind the Inn’s fabric draped ceilings and unique custom built furniture, and watercolors of her initial designs decorate the Inn’s narrow hallways. Each of the guest rooms she designed has a unique theme, and some are bi-level, with separate lofts for sleeping above. One room even features a cat walk across the roof of the inn to a private sitting area, where guests can take in a mountain filled Rappahannock view.
Refined American Cuisine
While O’Connell has achieved a five diamond rating for the Inn’s accommodations, the real star of the Inn at Little Washington show is the food. And it is a show, as O’Connell’s custom built kitchen features a table for guests that want to watch the action as they eat.
“I want people to think of the kitdhen as separate from the world, as a sanctuary,” explained O’Connell to a recent gathering of editors and staff from the Times Community Newspapers.
