John Wendell Phillips, Sr., 56, of Amissville died Feb. 20 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.
Mr. Phillips was bom Aug. 9,1949.
He worked for the federal government as a chef.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his mother, Pearl Groves of Amissville, a daughter, Tenika Phillips of Suitland, MD., and a son, John Phillips, Jr., of Atlanta, Ga.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Lesley Groves, Clinton, MD., Vivian Vontress, Silver Spring, MD., two brothers, Thomas Phillips, Arlington, Va., and Raynard Groves, Amissville.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Amissville.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church, 705 Viewtown Road, Amissville. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Amissville.

Linda Butler Shaw, 59, of Amissville died Wednesday, February 15, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
She was bom June 9, 1946 in Washington, D.C. to the late Oscar W. Butler Sr. and Kathleen Lee Butler.
Mrs. Shaw was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and taking trips in her RV and riding with her husband on his motorcycle. She loved spending time with her family, cherishing her grandchildren, and loving her pets.
She is survived by her husband, Lester Lloyd Shaw, of Amissville, one daughter, Pamela Kay Loebach and her husband, Paul, of Rockville, Maryland, one stepson, Billy Shaw of Culpeper, two grandchildren, Paul Michael Loebach, Jr. and Kathleen
