Piedmont United Way
seeks volunteers for
Grants Panel
The Piedmont United Way is currently seeking volunteers for the annual Grants Panel. Participation on the Grant is one of the most important tasks a United Way contributor and volunteer can undertake. Each year many local agencies apply to receive funding from the United Way. This panel is responsible for reviewing those requests and making recommendations for funding to the Board of Directors. The criteria utilized for selecting programs for funding needs for the next year is based on
• the agency’s mission (integrity, accountability purpose)
• the service demand and assistance provided by the agency
• the service impact on the local community and
• the outcome of that service.
By volunteering to serve on the Grants Panel, Piedmont United Way can have community input. Volunteers who serve on the panel will be assisting Piedmont United Way in its mission of the stewardship of contributed funds. This experience gives insight into how health and human service agencies utilize donated funding in our communities. The assistance is vital to Piedmont United Way’s collaborative efforts to foster an environment of ethical conduct and public trust in our organization. The volunteer commitment will encompass a morning training session on Saturday April 1, a flexible multi-day review process of agencies in mid-April and a full Saturday on May 13.
The commitment of time to participate may seem daunting, but the satisfaction of being part of an organization that does so much in the interest of community good is beyond measure.
