John Browning, who grew up in Flint Hill and wrote a book about that experience. My oldest sister now lives in the old Browning place just up Crest Hill Road from “main street.” . I eiyoy hearing from these folks. They always have some good memories to share. I also received a nice phone call the other day from Shirley Huff, who now lives just over the hill in Front Royal. She enjoys reading about things over here in the country. Thanks for taking the time to call.
And before I forget, this is for Tbm Massie. Arland Welch says the “new” route 522 came through in 1937. Tbm was talking to me last week, after his group had won the trivia contest at Griffin Tavern. He said he had read the article about visiting my old home place in Pullentown, and wondered when the new road was built that split our little homestead and the other properties in that area. Our resident expert on all things Rappahannock quickly came up with the answer.
