the Rappahannock contest and placed second at the Regional contest. She will again compete at the 2006 Regional Contest at Culpeper in the instrumental category along with Julia Hutfils in the vocal category7. Paula Raney was the 2005 Rappahannock Vocal winner.

Judges for this year were Ema Sue Amos and Carla Theodore for instrumental; Paula Henry and Judy Reidinger for vocal. Lion Bob Lander and Lion Larry Grove were the co-chairs for the contest arrangements. Wendy Weinberg has offered the use of The Theatre at Washington. Virginia for many years.

The Rappahannock Lions Club has sponsored the contest for over 20 years that is open to all students, K-12, that reside or attend school in Rappahannock County. Through the cooperation with the schools’ music teachers and private music teachers in the county, students are encouraged to participate in the contest that ultimately ends at the State level with the awarding of $2,000 scholarships to the winners.
